Dubai Dragon Boat Festival Another Big Hit

Dubai, UAE, 11 April 2011: Thousands of competitors and enthusiastic spectators enjoyed the annual Dubai Dragon Boat Festival at Festival Marina over the weekend (April 8-9).

In its fourth year, the popular event once again attracted competitors of all age groups and abilities for two days of non-stop action on the stunning creek side of Festival Centre Dubai Festival City.

Adding to the overall flavour of the event, a host of onshore entertainment was on offer including a live MC and entertainment along with the ‘Connector Kids Corner’ with its array of activities for the little ones from face painting through to sit-down classes with arts and crafts.

There was also soccer and coordination games on both days, lots of fun drumming with ‘Dubai Drums’ and everything from mini cooking classes to cheerleading demonstrations.

The festival was hosted by the UAE Dragon Boat Association, Siren Events, UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation and Festival Centre, in association with Mourjan Marinas IGY, the luxury marina developer and management company, and Festival Centre, the venue host.

Festival Marina is a unique yachting destination in Dubai. Located at the heart of Dubai Festival City, on the banks of historic Dubai Creek, Festival Marina forms part of the retail resort Festival Centre has and the recently launched Marina Restaurant Pavilion to offer convenient access to the wider range of entertainment, shopping and eating options overlooking the Dubai Sheikh Zayed Road skyline and creek.

The Mediterranean inspired Festival Marina encompasses 74 permanent berths with state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate 15 to 35 metre yachts. The custom-designed marina has a number of special features including extra wide pontoons, a helicopter pad and WiFi.
